Daydream (grounding)
series of paintings, watercolors on paper and cotton paper, various formats - approx. 55x75 cm, from 2021 to present; works based on field research and queries
The starting point for the project is the need for multidimensional, physical, and mindful contact with the natural environment. In my paintings, I depict nature both as a real space and as a set of close connections and processes. I create visual, metaphorical representations showing nature as a dynamic system of constantly changing biological, geological, and cultural relationships. The series of paintings Daydream (grounding) is based on field research and bibliographic and archival queries.
Field research and deep experience of the landscape
The basis for the project is field trips, mainly to protected and environmentally valuable areas (forest ecosystems, wetlands, trough lakes, mountain and karst landscapes), and studies of cultural ways of understanding and representing nature. In my understanding, głębokie deep experience of nature is primarily a long-term presence in the field and meticulous observation, but also somatic practices (qigong and meditation).
Selected locations - places that are special to me -become inspirations and subjects for my paintings. I treat my work on a painting as a curved extension - an extension of my presence in the landscape. For me, the painting process is a form of meditation with a place.
Nature as an active entity
The axis of the cycle is the fully sensual, physical, and spiritual relationship between humans and nature. I treat the landscape and its components - water, soil, rocks, vegetation, animals, air - as entities rather than background. I present nature as a dynamic, active, multi-element, complex superorganism. I draw attention to the forces that shape space - the destructive and creative activities of the elements and living organisms, the processes of matter circulation, erosion, growth, and decay.
The body as part of the ecosystem
I treat the human figure appearing in my paintings as part of the landscape. Man immerses himself in his surroundings, intertwining seamlessly with vegetation, water, and rocks, subject to the same mechanisms that shape the terrain. Physical closeness, touch, and intimacy, both in relation to other people and to the matter of the landscape, become a way of regaining a sense of belonging to the non-human world.
Microcosm and macrocosm, a body borrowed from the cosmos
An important theme present in the series of paintings is the idea of microcosm and macrocosm, present in ancient cosmologies and belief systems. Elements of the landscape function in direct juxtaposition with the human body, suggesting the existence of analogous laws governing the organic, geological, and cosmic worlds. References to mythology, ancient nature cults, and pre-modern ways of thinking about the relationship between humans and the earth inscribe the works in a reflection on the lost continuity between culture and nature.

Water and wetlands are among the places where archaeological research is conducted. Wetlands, and especially peat bogs, are incredible archives in themselves, storing vast amounts of data.
A woman reaches for a vessel that floats on the water like a water lily. Water can be a mirror that hides everything we conceal or that is inaccessible to us, subconscious.
The ceramics and objects shown in the painting were found in various locations in present-day Poland.
The painting depicts the wetlands of the Drawa National Park.

watercolor on cotton paper, 42x27.7cm, 2025
A painting emphasizing the inseparability of man and nature. The work depicts the wetlands of the Drawski Landscape Park.
↑ Daydream (grounding) #15. The snake that turned to stone
watercolor on cotton paper, 55x75 cm, 2025
A painting inspired by the symbolism of the snake in various cultures (the snake as the soul, the snake as a sage) and the cyclical nature and constant change present in the natural environment. The painting depicts the Romanka Reserve in the Beskid Żywiecki mountains.

watercolor on cotton paper, 55x75 cm, 2024
A painting inspired by “Gody/Dziady Żywieckie” - a tradition from the Beskids Mountins. Folk time is spiral. The end of the year is the end of time. The end is seen as a transformation. “Dziady” is therefore an element and a power - it is a ritual that guarantees prosperity and ushers in a time of rebirth. The whip and the blue and red figure at the bottom of the painting originate from “Dziady.” In this tradition, the cracking of the whip symbolizes the end and the beginning.
The painting depicts the Pilsko Nature Reserve in the Beskid Żywiecki mountains.

watercolor on cotton paper, 55x75 cm, 2024
Two paintings related to the Kuźnik Nature Reserve (near Piła) - with varied terrain, peat bog lakes, and a trough lake surrounded by steep hills. The works were created based on the meanings associated with the elements of water and fire.

Daydream (grounding) #10, Roots
watercolor on cotton paper, 55x75 cm, 2023
Two paintings inspired by peat bogs, wild streams, and above all, the Żabnik Valley Nature Reserve (Silesian Province). The fauna of peat bogs and floodplains is closely intertwined with water. Vast expanses of moss become carpets soaked with water, temporarily creating new, unstable lands. They are overgrown with more plants. The relationships between water, vegetation, and soil, the constant struggle of the elements, are likened here to romantic relationships.

The painting depicts plants with delicate and rather unusual forms found in Poland: spiked speedwell, globe orchid, globe speedwell, Pomeranian honeysuckle, soft-leaved speedwell, pink wheatgrass, and comb wheatgrass. The concept refers to Eastern traditions, where different colored lotus flowers are assigned to chakras. In the painting, I replaced the lotus flowers with local plants, which, when viewed up close, can be perceived as miniature, complete universes.

The main idea I worked with in my paintings was the dynamics of transformation and the clash of elements - both in the natural environment and in human relationships. This approach refers to the juxtaposition of the principles governing the microcosm and the macrocosm.

watercolor on paper, 50x70 cm, 2023
Two paintings related to the Podgórna Waterfall in Przesieka (near the Karkonosze National Park). The waterfall is the result of erosion and tectonic movements; it is located in a valley with steep slopes. Thanks to the specific shape of the terrain and the phenomena occurring here, the water gradually cut through the bottom of the valley, exposing boulders of various shapes and sizes. The water from the two-stage waterfall collects in two rounded basins (erosion kettles) created by water vortices grinding the vast basins.
The concept is based on the clash of elements - water and rocks; rocks and trees, and as a result, the transformation of space. Inspired by the relationship between the microcosm and the macrocosm, the human body is compared here to the mechanisms occurring in nature.

Three paintings depicting the Pyramids in Wietrzychowice (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province) - one of the oldest megalithic structures in Poland and Europe. The tombs were built about 5,500 years ago.
The key theme here is the relationship between man and matter - earth, stones - the basic building materials used since the dawn of time; and their deeper symbolism resulting from ancient cults based on the elements.
