The project received funding from the European Union under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NextGenerationEU).
A series of artistic and research activities focusing on the theme of Poland's natural protected areas and the relationships between nature, culture, and tradition in selected regions. The program included field research, study visits, and consultations with local cultural and nature organizations, archives, and museums; the creation of a series of artistic works (using various techniques and media); and the presentation of the project at an exhibition at the Centrala Gallery in Poznań and online.
Research activities included:
- activities in the Tatra National Park, Knyszynska Forest Landscape Park, Biebrza National Park, Beskid Żywiecki Landscape Park, Poprad Landscape Park, and Sierakowski Landscape Park
- preparation of a series of digital photographs summarizing the field research
- ; activities included familiarization with the methodology of field research and an introduction to topics related to the historical and contemporary use of land in mountain clearings and pastures.
Artistic activities included work on the intermedia concept of the characters: “Spirit of Plants and Mushrooms” and “Spirit of Earth and Rocks” and a series of collages entitled “Fluid Realities.” The characters representing the natural environment are inspired by ancient beliefs and an animistic approach to nature. They consist of costumes/objects (masks and gloves covered with photographs and graphic motifs - original and archival) made using the cyanotype technique and works on paper (various techniques and formats).
